Friday teaching kickstart: webinars and Clarence Thomas

For your Friday consideration:
Supporting Teaching and Learning Through Collaboration offers three webinars of Self Assesment of Discussions and Increasing Student Engagement with the D@L Brightspace Discussion tool. September 15th, 16th, and 23rd- times vary.

Minnesota Online Quality Initiative offers webinars based on the Quality Matters standards throughout the fall semester.

For those of you who think software like TurnItIn is just for plagiarism, consider the study, described in this NY Time article, that compared the words of U.S. Supreme Court Justices to the briefs submitted the court. You’ll be amazed how much our justices “crib” from other sources.

The study uses “an open source windows-based program that compares documents and reports similarities in their words and phrases.”
