LGBTQIA Ally Training

Workshop Description: This workshop provides participants tools, skills, knowledge, and resources to be intentionally supportive to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) communities. The workshop will cover definitions and terminology, tackle current issues and challenges facing LGBTQIA students, and practice skill-building scenarios, among other topics.

Bio:  Michael Grewe, MSW, LGSW, is the Director for LGBTQIA Student Services at Augsburg College.  He has done trainings at workshops at over 30 campuses in the region working to further best practices and improve institutional policies around LGBTQIA equity.  He has also served as the Co-Chair for the Minnesota GLBTA Campus Alliance and President for the Minnesota College Professionals Association.

Tough Talk

NASPA (the national student affairs association) is offering a FREE webinar this Friday, November 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM CST.  This dialogue with Chief Student Affairs Officers from a diverse range of institutions will discuss ways to engage with students across campus to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students as we move forward from the election.

This interactive dialogue with senior student affairs officers, Vice Presidents, and faculty will be facilitated by Dr. Shaun Harper, Professor and Executive Director, Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education.
